Gipsy Tonic

gypsy jazz hard bop band lausanne (ch)

The band

Since 2016, Gipsy Tonic has been bringing Lausanne’s stages to life with acoustic jazz drawing on Manouche and hard bop influences. Remaining true to the legacy of Django Reinhardt, the quartet infuses the music with its own unique flavour, blending festive energy with moments of stillness.

- Mixology -
new album coming soon!

We recorded our first album "Mixology" in our own studio “R-26” we built entirely ourselves in Pully, near Lausanne.

The album features eight tracks completely rearranged by the band. Each track explores a distinct atmosphere. We offer a unique listening experience, resulting in a blend of influences and personalities where the energy of hard bop meets gypsy jazz.

Beyond the music, this album also captures the bond we’ve forged over the years. The crowdfunding on WeMakeIt was a success and we're now working on the release for end of 2026!

Ten years on stage

Gipsy Tonic is an acoustic jazz quartet drawing on gypsy swing and hard bop, based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Formed in 2016 around the music of Django Reinhardt, the band has moved through the eras of swing and bop to ultimately find its own voice and create atmospheres all its own.

While staying true to their love of Django's music and that of his peers, the band aims to honour tradition while weaving in the influence of the great hard bop musicians — ready to deliver a set of gypsy jazz hard bop with arrangements all their own.
